Brest is a thousand-year-old city over the Bug river, a city with an ancient and rich history, which became known due to the heroic defense of the Brest fortress in the first days of the Great Patriotic War. The city, which perfectly preserved the historical center of the XIX-XX centuries, with many wonderful sculptures, lanterns, corner stores and souvenir shops. As you walk up to the centre of the fortress you see "Thirst", a large monument depicting an injured soldier trying to get some water from the river. The monument reflects the bravery of the last remaining soldiers who defended the Fortress for many days without food or water. The main part of the memorial is the Square of Ceremonies, leading to the Museum of the Defence of Brest fortress and the ruins of the White Palace. In order to see everything that Brest Fortress has to offer, you really need to dedicate a whole day to your visit.

And one of the four UNESCO monuments of Belarus is 60 kilometers from Brest – Belovezhskaya Pushcha, which together with the indigenous inhabitants, powerful zubrs (european bison), has become a symbol of Belarus. The primeval forest of this National Park is home to over 900 plants and 250 animals and birds, including several rare species.
